Fluorescent Secondary School (FSS) is a co-educational, English-medium school located in Baniyatar, Tokha-8, Kathmandu. The school provides education from Nursery through Grade 12, offering students a continuous academic pathway from early education to higher secondary level.
Established in 1997, the school has grown from its initial 219 students and 18 faculty members into a well-established educational institution in Kathmandu. Its guiding philosophy is expressed through the motto “Education for Empowerment.”
FSS focuses on holistic student development, combining academic achievement with the development of confidence, critical thinking, creativity, ethical values, social responsibility, and emotional well-being.
The school provides Science and Management programs at the +2 level, affiliated with the National Examinations Board (NEB), allowing students to continue their higher secondary education within the institution.
Its facilities include Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science laboratories, a library, activity and conference hall, infirmary, canteen, and transportation services covering various parts of Kathmandu.
The school places considerable importance on extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, including sports, music, dance, cultural programs, educational tours, community activities, exhibitions, and other student-development programs.
FSS also provides scholarship opportunities for academically outstanding students as well as eligible students from certain disadvantaged or special circumstances. Parent-teacher and parent-teacher-student meetings are conducted regularly to monitor and support student progress.
The school received the Best School Award 2081 from the Government of Nepal, recognizing its academic performance and contribution to education.
